I've always loved to write. Aged 10 I won a poetry competition and heard my name read out on radio; at school I won *best-written school project*.

I've written features about my life experiences:

• life in war-torn Aden as a six year old in the late '60's
• two weeks aboard the last passenger liner through the Suez Canal
• a sponsored climb up Ben Nevis
• my emotionally painful path to motherhood

My interests have sparked ideas for articles:

• I've written about food waste and plastic bag wastage from my  awareness of green and environmental issues
• I've been able to inform readers about organic food and what's really on children's restaurant menus from my interest in healthy eating
